TRAVEL GENERAL INFORMATION

Period of this trip: February 2013
Country: Argentina
Currency used: USD (mainly) and Pesos
Duration: 3 weeks
Number of travelers: 2
Budget: ca. £5,000 (or ca £2,500 pp)
Best Period: – November to March to visit South (Patagonia).
– April to October to visit North (Iguazu Falls).
Guide used: Lonely Planet
VISA: VISA Free for EU citizens
General Info: Travel in Argentina can be quite pricy due to long distances to cover and no low-cost flights available. As we had only few weeks holidays, we decided to fly in each of the destinations to save time (more expensive option). Distances are huge. The alternative way is travel by bus (cheaper option). After doing some simulation of a self-made tour, we’ve realised that going for an organized tour is 20% if not cheaper than doing it yourself. Got quotes from several agencies in Italy, UK and Argentina. The agency we’ve chosen was the best in terms of quality and price and could offer around 20% discount on flights and good hotel deals, not available booking yourself (I’ve checked every single one!). The agency could tailor-made our travel according to our needs and budget. We have optioned for a low-budget solution going in 2 or 3 stars hotels. Quality was better than expected!
Book well in advance because national Argentinian flight prices keep changing. Christmas and New Year Periods are the most expensive, so calculate 40% more (min) increase in prices. The agency we used: SAY HUEQUE website: www.sayhueque.com (all prices in USD).
